The Institute of Sound and Vibration Research (ISVR) at the University of Southampton, UK, was
founded over 50 years ago in response to problems of aircraft noise and vibration and has grown to over 140 researchers involved in a wide range of projects. In the most recent research assessment exercise the University of Southampton was ranked in the top three UK institutions for the range and quality of its research.
